What is Chief Originals® Fluoride-Free Toothpaste (Peppermint + Aniseed) made of?**
Silver Water – This potent substance possesses natural cleansing properties that can help you maintain good health and oral hygiene, making it a key ingredient in our breakthrough toothpaste formula.
Xylitol (XIVIA C) – Often recommended by dental experts, xylitol is a low-glycemic, low-calorie sugar alcohol that can help protect your teeth rather than harm them.
Vegetable Glycerin – Often used as a moisturizing agent in many toothpaste formulas, vegetable glycerin is a water-soluble, syrupy liquid that can help freshen your breath. It also helps retain moisture in our premium toothpaste formula.
Calcium Carbonate – Calcium carbonate is a natural, stable, inorganic mineral that is often used in toothpaste production.
Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) – Another effective mild abrasive, sodium bicarbonate is a fine, white powder with numerous practical household uses. Also known as baking soda, high-quality sodium bicarbonate dissolves easily and leaves no grit behind. For this reason, it is commonly found in various toothpaste formulas and similar products.
Sodium Cocoyl Glutamate – Sodium cocoyl glutamate and purified water help facilitate easy rinsing and removal of food particles. That's why we use high-quality sodium cocoyl glutamate in our premium toothpaste formula.
Cellulose Gum (CMC) – Cellulose gum can help keep the toothpaste thick and foamy and may even aid in extending the shelf life of the other ingredients.
Silicon Dioxide – Silicon dioxide is a natural compound comprised of silicon and oxygen. It is often used as a food additive and anti-caking agent in a variety of food products and supplements.
Menthol Crystals – Known for their refreshing flavor, sharp aroma and cooling sensation, menthol crystals are extracted from the leaves of the mint plant (Mentha arvensis). As such, menthol crystals have the concentrated powers of mint – including its signature scent, which is why they are a common ingredient in many toothpastes, mouthwash formulas and other oral health products.
Organic Stevia Extract Powder – A healthy alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners, stevia leaf extract (Stevia rebaudiana) can be 200 to 350x sweeter than sugar. This means we only need to include a small amount of stevia to give our premium toothpaste formula a pleasant taste. Plus, unlike other sweeteners, stevia does not form acids that corrode teeth, making it a very tooth-friendly sweetener.
Organic Peppermint Essential Oil – Considered one of the most useful natural products for supporting fresh breath, peppermint essential oil is known for its distinctive cooling effect and refreshing aroma. Extracted from the fresh flowers and leaves of the peppermintplant (Mentha piperita) via steam distillation, peppermint oil possesses potent cleansing properties that can help keep your teeth clean and your breath fresh. As such, this highly versatile oil is often found in many natural and homemade toothpastes and mouthwash formulas.
Anise Oil – A popular flavoring agent, anise oil is extracted from the seeds of the anise plant (Pimpinella anisum). Known for its cleansing properties, these seeds were historically chewed to support fresh breath. Anise oil helps cleanse your teeth and gums while providing important nutrients such as iron, manganese, calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, along with antioxidants like anethole. Thanks to its sweet odor and pleasant licorice-like taste, anise oil is often used to flavor breath fresheners.
Organic Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil – Extracted from the bark of the "true cinnamon" tree (Cinnamomum zeylanicum), cinnamon bark oil has been historically used as a traditional remedy for various purposes. It contains high levels of cinnamaldehyde, a natural compound with potent antioxidant properties that support good dental health and counter free radicals. Cinnamaldehyde is also responsible for the oil's potency and fragrant aroma.
