Ranging from red to dark brown in color, “aka miso” or red miso is made from organic soybeans fermented with organic rice, though with a higher concentration of organic soybeans and a longer fermentation period than yellow miso.
Red miso is high in protein and best complements most meaty vegetables, such as eggplants and mushrooms. The deep umami flavor of red miso is perfect for hearty soups, braises, marinades, stews, gravies, and glazes.
Health Ranger Select Organic Freeze-Dried Red Miso Powder has a stronger flavor than our yellow version. We therefore recommend using it sparingly so as not to overpower milder ingredients.
Health Ranger Select Organic Freeze-Dried Red Miso Powder is made with the highest-quality organic soybeans, organic rice, sea salt, and organic Aspergillus oryzae as the fermenting agent. The miso is then carefully freeze-dried to extend its shelf life and preserve its freshness and nutritional quality. Health Ranger Select Organic Freeze-Dried Red Miso Powder is certified organic and Kosher and is packaged in a USDA Certified Organic Facility. Additionally, this product is plant-based, non-GMO, non-China, and is thoroughly lab tested for glyphosate, heavy metals, and microbiology. It also contains no added gluten, wheat or any harmful additives.
Why is Freeze-Dried Organic Miso an ideal food for long-term storage?**
Fermentation is an ancient technique of preserving food that not only makes the food last longer, but also unlocks its full nutritional potential while improving its digestibility. Miso derives its beneficial properties from the fermentation process rather than the soy itself. Fermenting soy radically alters its chemical properties, changing it from an estrogen-mimicking food to an anti-estrogenic food.
Aside from being fermented, our organic red and yellow miso powders are also carefully freeze-dried to preserve their freshness and original nutrient content. This food preservation technique doesn't require the use of artificial preservatives or other chemicals. Freeze-drying locks in the original taste, texture and nutritional content better than foods preserved through other drying methods. It also greatly extends the shelf life of miso, even without refrigeration.
By utilizing these two food preservation techniques, our Health Ranger Select Freeze-Dried Organic Red and Yellow Miso Powders provide a shelf-stable and convenient source of nutrition that can come in handy during a food emergency. Since all moisture has been removed, our freeze-dried organic miso powder is portable, lightweight and can easily be rehydrated anytime. You can literally make a delicious bowl of nutrient-dense soup in seconds by adding in hot water. All of these factors combined make Health Ranger Select Freeze-Dried Organic Red and Yellow Miso Powders an ideal survival food.
Nutritional profile of red miso powder**

It is also naturally abundant in healthy unsaturated fatty acids, as well as potent antioxidant compounds, such as isoflavones, saponins and melanoidins.
